Insignia Assets Commands the Spotlight With Seven NAACP Image Award Nominations

Atlanta’s own Insignia Assets is entering 2026 with undeniable force. The multi-faceted entertainment collective has earned seven NAACP Image Award nominations, cementing its place as one of today’s most influential Black-owned media companies operating at the intersection of music, film, faith, and culture.

Spanning recorded music and film, the nominations reflect more than industry recognition — they signal momentum, vision, and a growing legacy rooted in storytelling that moves both spirit and society.

A Gospel Powerhouse Shaping the Sound of a Generation

At the center of Insignia’s music success is TRIBL Records, a label that has steadily reshaped the landscape of gospel and faith-based music. Recently named Billboard’s #1 Gospel Label of 2025, TRIBL secured four NAACP Image Award nominations that underscore its cultural and commercial impact.

The label’s flagship collective, Maverick City Music, earned two major nominations for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album (Live at Maverick City) and Outstanding Gospel/Christian Song (“Constant – Live”). Known for redefining worship through authenticity and global reach, the group continues to blur the lines between gospel tradition and contemporary culture.

Legendary artist Kirk Franklin, following his multi-level partnership with Insignia Assets, received a nomination for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Song for “Do It Again,” reinforcing his enduring influence across generations.

Adding to the momentum, Travis Greene earned recognition in the Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration category for “Let Freedom Ring,” his powerful collaboration with Andra Day — a moment that resonated well beyond gospel circles.

A Breakout Film Moment for 3 Diamonds Entertainment

Insignia’s film and television division, 3 Diamonds Entertainment, delivered a breakout year with three NAACP Image Award nominations for its debut feature, Unexpected Christmas. Led by Phil Thornton and Trell Woodberry, the company made an immediate impact with its first theatrical release.

Following a nationwide debut in November, the film struck a chord with audiences and critics alike, later reaching the number one spot on STARZ after its streaming release. The achievement marked a defining milestone for 3 Diamonds, signaling the arrival of a studio committed to culturally resonant, commercially successful storytelling.

Leadership Rooted in Purpose and Vision

“The NAACP Image Awards celebrate the power of Black creativity, and this recognition affirms the purpose behind everything we build,” said EJ Gaines, Chief Strategy Officer of Insignia Assets. “We are intentional about partnering with artists and storytellers whose work carries cultural weight and long-term impact.”

Phil Thornton, CEO of 3 Diamonds Entertainment, echoed that sentiment, noting that recognition for the company’s first film release reinforces their mission to tell stories that reflect authenticity, excellence, and lived experience.

A Moment That Signals What’s Next

The 57th Annual NAACP Image Awards will air live on February 28, 2026, on BET, with a simulcast on the CBS. As Insignia Assets steps onto this national stage with seven nominations, the moment feels less like an arrival — and more like a declaration.

Insignia isn’t just participating in culture. It’s shaping it.
