Love The Skin You’re In Selected for the Hollywood Black Film Festival

Snubb3d proudly spotlights Love The Skin You’re In, an OFFICIAL SELECTION at the prestigious Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF). This deeply moving independent film unpacks themes of family, caregiving, and self-acceptance, boldly offering an authentic portrayal of reconciliation and healing.

At its heart, the story follows a daughter whose father, facing serious health challenges, moves into her home. What begins as a necessity transforms into a powerful journey of forgiveness, strength, and reconnection. By exploring the complexities of caregiving, Love The Skin You’re In sparks dialogue on resilience, wellness, and the enduring importance of self-love.

The film is a true labor of love, written, produced, and executive produced by Sauda Johnson-McNeal, who also makes her acting debut in the lead role. Her vision is guided by the direction of Kenn Michael and supported by producer Kimberly L. Ogletree. Legendary actor Obba Babatundé joins the project not only as a cast member but also as an executive producer, while Brittney Murray lends her talent as co-producer. The visual storytelling is shaped by director of photography Crystal Kelley, and the film’s soundscape is curated by music supervisor Tanya Du’Shay, ensuring every detail is infused with emotion and authenticity.

The cast features a dynamic blend of celebrated names and rising stars. Alongside Johnson-McNeal, the ensemble includes the acclaimed Wendy Raquel Robinson, the legendary Marla Gibbs, and Obba Babatundé. The film also showcases performances by Flor Delis Alicea, Blythe Howard, Kareem Grimes, Marcus Mitchell, Adilah Barnes, Jacqueline Fleming, and Kyrie McAlpin, each bringing depth and resonance to this heartfelt story.

Audiences will have the opportunity to experience Love The Skin You’re In on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 6:30 PM PT at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles, California.
