Lifetime Explores Faith, Temptation, and Truth in Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery

Lifetime is stepping into bold and thought-provoking storytelling with its latest original film, Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery, premiering Saturday, June 6 at 8/7c.

Led by Grammy Award-winning powerhouse Erica Campbell, the film dives deep into the complexities of faith, morality, and personal accountability in a world where public image often collides with private choices.

Campbell stars as Cassie Newton, a renowned Christian feminist icon and bestselling author whose life appears perfectly aligned with the values she teaches. But behind the image is a truth she can no longer hide. When Cassie becomes the target of a blackmail scheme tied to an extramarital affair, everything she has built begins to unravel.

As pressure mounts, Cassie is forced to navigate public scrutiny, a fractured marriage, and the looming collapse of her influence. At the center of it all is a choice that challenges everything she stands for. Protect her image or confront her truth.

CJ Williams stars as Daniel, Cassie’s husband, whose unwavering love is tested in ways he never imagined. Traí Byers steps into the role of Troy Stamps, the man at the center of the affair, whose presence complicates an already fragile reality. Adding further depth to the story, Jasmine Guy portrays Anita Pierce, a respected empowerment speaker, while former NBA champion Matt Barnes makes his acting debut as Detective Wilson.

More than just a drama, Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery explores the weight of hypocrisy, the reality of temptation, and the cost of living a life under constant watch. It challenges viewers to consider what happens when faith is tested not in theory, but in real life.

Directed by Patricia Cuffie Jones and written by Nneka Grestle, the film is backed by a strong production team including Relevé Entertainment and Swirl Films, known for bringing layered, culturally resonant stories to the screen.
