This Mother’s Day, rising R&B star J. Brown offers a heartfelt tribute with his stirring rendition of the Boyz II Men classic, “A Song for Mama.” Directed by the ever-talented @Timmywiththecamera, the accompanying music video isn’t just visually stunning—it’s emotionally charged, capturing the unspoken bonds between mother and child.
“I recorded this song as a tribute to the woman who gave me everything without ever asking for anything in return,” shares J. Brown. “‘A Song for Mama’ isn’t just music—it’s my way of saying thank you, I love you, and I see you. This one’s for every mother who gave and continues to give love unconditionally.”

In an exclusive visual journey, J. Brown honors both his mother and grandmother, women who clearly shaped the foundation of the man and artist he’s become. The intimate visuals and tender vocals offer fans a glimpse into a softer, more reflective side of the Billboard-charting singer.

R&B Royalty in the Making
While he pauses to pay tribute to the women who raised him, J. Brown’s momentum in the music industry is far from slowing down. His latest single, “TRUE LOVE,” currently holds the #7 spot on the Billboard R&B Airplay charts, continuing his streak of chart dominance. With eight Top 20 and seven Top 10 Billboard R&B songs in just five years, J. Brown is proving he’s not just here for the moment—he’s here to stay.
In 2024 alone, he snagged two #1 Billboard R&B songs: “My Whole Heart” (3 weeks at #1) and “If You Could See You” (2 weeks at #1). His third studio album, “Just A Matter of Time,” is already gaining global acclaim.

“Just A Matter of Time”: An Album Born from Soul and Truth
When GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Carvin Haggins (best known for his work with Will Smith, Jill Scott, and Musiq Soulchild) reached out, J. Brown jumped at the opportunity. Together with Haggins’ team, TheRing, the group spent seven months crafting what would become Just A Matter of Time—a collection of stories steeped in vulnerability, passion, and authenticity.
“I wanted to create an album where I was in a space of total creativity,” says J. Brown. “We dove deep into honest conversations in music—something I feel is missing in today’s R&B.”
From the emotionally raw “Are You Still Mad” to the soul-soaked “MAH DEAR” (a nostalgic collaboration with Elijah Blake and hit producer Roark Bailey), the album reads like pages torn from the diary of a man navigating love’s messiest and most magical moments.
With lyrical gems like, “It’s been eight days, I gave space, I hate to fight with you, can we call a truce?”, J. Brown captures the nuances of conflict and forgiveness that define true connection.
Legacy in the Making
Blending the golden soul of Motown with the classic groove of Philadelphia International Records, Just A Matter of Time is more than an album—it’s a testament to growth, heartbreak, healing, and hope.
“Naming the album Just A Matter of Time just felt right,” he reflects. “It’s a story of the highs and lows of love—a man’s journey of wanting, finding, and sometimes losing it. I promise it will resonate deeply with listeners.”
As J. Brown continues to evolve both musically and personally, one thing remains certain: his voice, rooted in soul and rich with feeling, is reshaping the modern R&B landscape—one song, one story, one heartfelt note at a time.
