Success stories often begin with a dream. Sam Sparks’ story begins with service.
Long before becoming the founder of The Brew, a thriving community centered coffee brand and podcast in Chicago, Sam spent more than a decade behind the scenes as the personal stylist to television icon Steve Harvey. While many may have viewed the opportunity as a front row seat to celebrity culture, Sam saw it as something much greater: a masterclass in leadership, business, branding, and purpose.

But what came next would define his legacy.
After stepping away from the entertainment industry, Sam set out to build something of his own. What emerged was The Brew, a space rooted in community, conversation, mentorship, and economic empowerment. It was never simply about serving coffee. It was about creating an environment where people felt seen, heard, valued, and inspired.
The journey, however, was anything but easy.
Over the years, The Brew endured twelve separate break ins. For many entrepreneurs, one incident could have been enough to walk away. Twelve could have ended the dream altogether.
Instead, Sam chose resilience.
Every setback became fuel. Every challenge became motivation. Rather than retreat, he leaned deeper into his mission of serving his community and investing in young people who needed opportunity, guidance, and hope.

Today, that commitment has impacted more than 5,000 youth through mentorship programs, leadership development, employment opportunities, and community outreach initiatives. Through The Brew and other community focused efforts, Sam has helped countless young people discover purpose, develop workforce skills, and envision brighter futures for themselves.
What makes his approach unique is that impact comes before profit.
At The Brew, young people are given real opportunities to learn business operations, customer service, leadership, accountability, and entrepreneurship. The goal is not simply to provide jobs. The goal is to create pathways.

Sam’s influence now extends far beyond Chicago neighborhoods and coffee counters. His work has reached schools, churches, community organizations, and youth programs nationwide, earning him recognition as a respected entrepreneur, mentor, humanitarian, and advocate for the next generation.
Most recently, The Brew received one of its most significant honors when the brand was selected to serve coffee during events surrounding the funeral of civil rights icon Reverend Jesse Jackson. The moment placed Sam and his growing business before influential figures including Barack Obama, Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, and Bill Clinton.
Yet even with increasing visibility and national recognition, Sam remains grounded in the same mission that started it all: serving people.
In a world often obsessed with viral moments and overnight success, Sam Sparks represents something different. He is proof that meaningful impact is built one relationship, one opportunity, and one life at a time.
His story is not simply about coffee.
It is about resilience.
It is about community.
It is about purpose.
And perhaps most importantly, it is about refusing to let adversity have the final word.
For Sam Sparks, the mission continues. The Brew may have started as a business, but it has evolved into a movement dedicated to transforming lives, strengthening communities, and proving that success means little if it is not shared with others.
