Doug Locke is an actor and musician from Houston, Texas with more than 10 years in the industry. His creativity has always been protected and nurtured by his family. He has released his new music in chapters, with the first EP “Black Travolta” which became available on all music platforms May 8th.
We recently caught up with this musical sensation and asked him about “Black Travolta.” This song was made for you to get up and dance and just enjoy life and vibe out he stated. When asked about a video or a remix Locke expressed he would love to have John Travolta in the video and maybe even a collab remix with Lil Nas X. Wouldn’t that be exciting??? As a musician his influences include Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz, Rihanna and Madonna. His Spotify counts over 650,000 streams and Soundcloud sports over 29k streams. His single “#ThisCouldBeUs” hit no.32 on the iTunes Hot 100 charts and the music video has over 1.2 million views.
Locke’s music video for “In or Out” was nominated for “Best Indie Music Video” for a Queerty award in 2018. Locke returned to Houston to film his music video for “KING” which has a strong anti-bullying message and themes of self-empowerment and love.
Locke continues to create content like non-other. Even during this season of Covid he expressed his creativity and music continues to grow. He recently put out a single Why?” available now on Locke “Why? (Lunar II) – EP” , which talks about the systematic oppression here in the United States. As a child of a civil rights activist, he is passionate about social justice and reform.With the current times we are in this single is sure to make you think about what is going on and the changes we need and seek.
In his music you will see a pure activist. .He continues to show this in his work of art. Everything that Doug puts his hand on is pure gold. He continues to spearhead all his creativity and talents and gifts.
As an actor, he began his journey by playing a young Jimi Hendrix in the short film “A Technicolor Dream.” Locke, took the character to heart.With research and dedication and motivation he embodied one of the greats. He expressed “It was a dream come true to play as one of his musical influences.” Some of his other TV and film credits include roles on “Jane The Virgin,” “Bones,” “House MD,” and in the Reese Witherspoon film “Home Again.”
