Jawn Murray Returns Home to the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame for Fifth Consecutive Year

For the fifth consecutive year, television personality, producer, and cultural commentator Jawn Murray is returning to one of the events closest to his heart.

The NAACP Image Award-winning producer has officially been announced as the host of the 2026 Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame induction ceremony, continuing a relationship that has become synonymous with one of the Midwest’s most celebrated tributes to Black musical excellence.

Set to take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center in downtown Cincinnati, this year’s ceremony promises to be another unforgettable celebration of the artists, innovators, and institutions whose contributions have shaped music history.

For Murray, however, the event represents something deeper than hosting duties.

“The Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame is literally one of my favorite events to host each year,” Murray shared. “Not just because thousands of people from Cincinnati and all over the Midwest show up and are the most gracious audience, but I truly believe in the importance of this cultural installation in the heart of downtown Cincinnati.”

That passion is one of the reasons Murray has become such a beloved fixture of the annual event. His deep knowledge of Black music history, natural charisma, and ability to connect with audiences have helped elevate the ceremony into a must-attend cultural celebration.

This year’s induction class continues the tradition of honoring greatness.

Legendary R&B and disco group Heatwave and pioneering Cincinnati radio station WCIN will be inducted into the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame, while Grammy Award-winning vocalist Regina Belle will receive the prestigious Legacy Award. Several influential industry leaders will also be honored as Top Influencers for their contributions to music, culture, and entertainment.

The celebration will also feature performances from previous Walk of Fame inductees Shirley Murdock and Midnight Star, adding even more star power to an already historic occasion.

Murray’s connection to the Walk of Fame became even more meaningful in 2025 when Hamilton County Commissioner Alicia Reece surprised him with an induction into the Walk of Fame’s Top Influencer section.

The honor recognized Murray’s continued advocacy for Black music and his efforts to bring national attention to the Cincinnati landmark. His influence helped introduce the Walk of Fame to wider audiences through media appearances and coverage, including a feature on The Sherri Shepherd Show after he and Shepherd visited the attraction during a Cincinnati appearance.

For Commissioner Reece, Murray has become more than a host.

The institution was created to honor the Black artists, musicians, executives, media personalities, and cultural pioneers whose contributions have shaped Cincinnati’s rich musical legacy while influencing audiences around the world. Past inductees include The Isley Brothers, Nancy Wilson, Bootsy Collins, James Brown, The O’Jays, Donald Lawrence, Dottie Peoples, Hi-Tek, Randy Crawford, and Penny Ford.

As the Walk of Fame prepares to celebrate another class of legends, Murray once again finds himself at the center of the festivities, helping preserve history while celebrating the voices and visionaries who continue to shape culture.

For one summer afternoon in Cincinnati, the spotlight will shine on music history.

And Jawn Murray will once again help tell the story.
