Lil Nas X and Nas “Rodeo” Official Video
Lil Nas X released his official music video for the single “Rodeo.” The single was first dropped at the GRAMMYs performance when Nas joined Lil Nas X following his “Old Town Road” medley.
In the video you see Lil Nas X picking up the phone to a threatening phone call about playing a game. He’s then pierced in the neck by a vampire, and his body begins to conforms, as he stumbles under a full moon (something like homage to Michael Jackson “Thriller” maybe). Nas X begins to head over to a pharmacy, which he does a great doritos product placement. This comes as a no brainer due to his Superbowl commercial.
With red sharp piercing eyes and pointy ears, Lil Nas links up with the legend Nas, who impersonates Blade. Lil Nas X is then thrown into the matrix, as he has to decide the blue pill or the red pill. Of course in the video Lil Nas decides to go with the red pill, which successfully ultimately unlocks his powers and he saves the day.
Lil Nas stated to Billboard the following:
“I thought it would be its own moment for hip-hop,” Lil Nas previously told Billboard of the remix. “Just to have that whole idea of ‘Nas doesn’t like Lil Nas’ perish. It was dope of him to hop on the song. The best advice he told me was to ‘Keep your foot on their necks.'”
Nas X also told fans on Twitter that Cardi B simply couldn’t make the video shoot due to timing issues. “I didn’t ‘kick’ Cardi off of rodeo. she couldn’t do the video. we cool tho,” he wrote.
Lil Nas X will be performing both weekends at COACHELLA.
