Sheryl Lee Ralph’s DIVA Foundation Partners with Gilead Sciences for Empowering Community Workshop at Emory University

Sheryl Lee Ralph continues to lead with purpose beyond the stage and screen.

The award-winning actress and activist, through The DIVA Foundation, is partnering with Gilead Sciences to host a free, community-centered workshop focused on healthy relationships, intimacy, and women’s health. Titled “Empowerment, Dating, and Intimacy: Living and Loving with Purpose,” the interactive event will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta.

This three-hour experiential workshop is designed to create a safe, stigma-free environment where women can explore love, health, and purpose through clinically informed conversations and community support.

“We are leading a revolution in how women approach love,” said Sheryl Lee Ralph, founder of The DIVA Foundation. “Through providing knowledge as power via clinically informed conversations about intimacy and health — without judgment — we are empowering women to craft their own stories.”

A Space for Clarity, Confidence, and Community

In collaboration with the Emory COMPASS Coordinating Center and the Living Well Collective, the program blends professional expertise with open dialogue. The session will be led by licensed clinical psychologists Dr. Erica Holmes and Dr. Nyiema D. Carter-Eme, both respected voices in mental health, relationships, and women’s wellness.

Participants will engage in interactive discussions and activities centered on:

  • Confident Dating and self-advocacy
  • Holistic Intimacy and emotional connection
  • Sexual Health Education, including modern HIV prevention strategies such as U=U and PrEP
  • Communication, Consent, and stigma reduction

“This isn’t just another seminar,” said Dr. Erica Holmes. “It’s an opportunity for women to rewrite their stories — an exploration into how they can approach love not as something that simply happens but as a dynamic process they can shape.”

Bridging Clinical Expertise and Cultural Impact

Dr. Holmes, widely known as “Doc Erica,” brings a vibrant and accessible approach to psychology. A media personality and author of four books on dating and relationships, she has appeared on OWN’s Black Love, Fox Soul, and numerous podcasts and live platforms. Her work blends clinical insight with real-world relationship guidance.

Dr. Nyiema D. Carter-Eme brings more than 15 years of experience in psychotherapy and counseling, specializing in perinatal mental health and empowering African American women. As a private practitioner and community advocate, she focuses on eliminating stigma and expanding emotional wellness education.

Together, they will guide participants through meaningful conversations that center empowerment, agency, and informed choice.

The Mission Behind the Movement

The DIVA Foundation, founded by Sheryl Lee Ralph, operates at the intersection of the arts and health awareness. Through creative programming and outreach, the nonprofit addresses HIV/AIDS awareness, women’s health, and social justice initiatives — always centering education and empowerment.

This upcoming workshop reflects a growing cultural shift: merging health literacy with self-love, science with storytelling, and empowerment with community.

Because living well is not just about surviving — it is about loving with purpose.
