Tamar Braxton Gets Real About HIV Prevention in Powerful New Partnership with Gilead Sciences

Tamar Braxton is taking her platform from center stage to the frontlines of public health. The GRAMMY-nominated artist, TV favorite, and all-around truth-teller has partnered with Gilead Sciences, Inc. in a bold initiative to increase awareness of HIV prevention, specifically PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), among Black women.

The campaign officially launched at Essence Festival 2025, where Tamar graced the Safe & Sexy panel on the Global Black Economic Forum stage—fusing real talk, empowerment, and critical information in true Tamar fashion.

“I want Black women to know that protecting your body, your peace, and your pleasure is not negotiable,” Braxton shared. “We’ve stopped talking about HIV, and that silence is hurting us. I want to bring the conversation back—loud and proud.”

Her words hit home. In the U.S., Black women represent over 50% of new HIV diagnoses among women, yet only make up 13% of the female population. That gap isn’t just alarming—it’s unacceptable. Tamar’s collaboration with Gilead is an urgent reminder that education, access, and advocacy must be centered in the Black community, especially for women navigating love, relationships, and health on their own terms.

Long known for her unfiltered honesty and magnetic presence, Tamar has never shied away from the real. Whether on Braxton Family Values or The Real, she’s kept it raw, relatable, and impactful. Now, she’s channeling that same energy into pushing for better health outcomes and stronger awareness around issues that matter—including HIV prevention and breast cancer.
