The 2023 Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame honorees include Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes and Jermaine Dupri

This year’s Black Music Month class of inductees for the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame (BMEWOF) includes Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, and Jermaine Dupri. Both the Black American Music Association (BAMAssoc) and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus (GEC) made the announcement jointly. On October 26, Atlanta will host the annual induction ceremony.

Additionally, Magic Johnson, Dallas Austin, Marvin Sapp, and Mahalia Jackson are among the inductees for the class of 2023. Each of the honorees will be honored with an emblem of the Crown Jewel of Excellence that will be installed on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, adjacent to the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame was created by Demmette Guidry (BAMAssoc), Erica Thomas (GEC), Michael Mauldin (BAMAssoc) and Catherine Brewton (GEC). During a press conference to announce the 2023 honorees, Brewton said, “These inductees embody Black excellence and have contributed to society and the world in ways that will remain influential for generations to come.”

Inductees into the BMEWOF’s 2023 class join a distinguished list of previous honorees. Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, James Brown, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Patti LaBelle, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill, Nas, Run-D.M.C., Snoop Dogg, OutKast are among the notable artists.
