This fall, gospel music takes center stage in a way that’s never been seen before. The Gospel Music Hall of Fame (GMHOF) has unveiled its 2025 Inductees and Special Award Recipients, marking a history-making year with over 100 inductions—the largest class in its history. The celebration will unfold during Gospel Music Heritage Month at the Induction Gala Ceremony and Expo, set for September 5–6, 2025 at the St. Louis Convention Center.

A Legacy Etched in Song
The class of 2025 includes gospel powerhouses who have shaped the genre and influenced generations. From the trailblazing artistry of Kirk Franklin to the soaring vocals of Yolanda Adams, and the legendary harmonies of The Clark Sisters, this year’s inductees embody excellence and innovation.
Also honored are modern forces like Erica Campbell, Tina Campbell, Warryn Campbell, Dr. Jekalyn Carr, Dr. Ricky Dillard, Tye Tribbett, Rickey Smiley, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, Lisa Page-Lockhart, and Deitrick Haddon—each carrying gospel into new spaces while staying true to its roots.
Honoring Those Who Paved the Way
Posthumous inductees highlight the everlasting power of gospel’s foundation. Dr. Whitney Houston, who never abandoned her gospel beginnings, is recognized alongside her mother Dr. Cissy Houston, a two-time Grammy-winning vocalist and mentor to countless artists.
Also celebrated are pioneers like Inez Andrews of The Caravans, Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson, Al “The Bishop” Hobbs, and Former Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, whose advocacy helped establish Gospel Music Heritage Month in 2008. These names join other trailblazers including The O’Neal Twins, Ruby Summerville-Dickson (Mother Ruby), and Bishop Michael Alan Brooks of Commissioned.
A Movement Bigger Than Music
Dr. Monica R. Butler, founder of GMHOF and a veteran broadcaster, shared the vision behind this milestone year:
“Through the power of Gospel music, we not only celebrate our rich heritage but also unite hearts and souls in faith, hope, and joy. Let us preserve and promote the timeless messages of love and redemption, inspiring future generations to carry the light of the Gospel forward.”
This year’s record-breaking number of inductees reminds us that gospel isn’t confined to churches or charts—it’s a cultural force that continues to inspire movements, break barriers, and give voice to communities around the world.
A Weekend of Worship, Celebration, and History
The two-day event in St. Louis promises a mix of performances, tributes, historical exhibits, and community celebrations. Fans and families will gather not only to honor the honorees but also to experience the heartbeat of gospel: music that uplifts, transforms, and unites.
