Claressa Shields Brings Championship Legacy and Women’s Boxing History to Atlanta

When Claressa Shields steps into State Farm Arena on August 15, it won’t just be another title fight. It will be a moment.A statement.

And perhaps the next chapter in one of the greatest careers the sport of boxing has ever witnessed.

The undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and the most decorated woman in boxing history is officially bringing her championship pedigree to Atlanta for the first time as she returns to the middleweight division to face unified WBC and WBA champion Kaye Scott in a highly anticipated showdown live on DAZN.

Presented by Salita Promotions in partnership with Wynn Records, Claressa Shields Promotions, and Route 30 Promotions, the event marks a historic milestone as the first women’s boxing headliner and first championship boxing event at State Farm Arena since Gervonta Davis headlined the venue in 2019.

For Shields, however, this fight represents far more than a title opportunity.

It represents legacy.

“At this point in my career, every fight is about legacy,” Shields shared. “Every fight now is about pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for myself, for women’s boxing, and for the next generation coming behind me.”

There may be no athlete better suited to carry that responsibility.

Already a two-time Olympic gold medalist, five-division world champion, undisputed heavyweight champion, and the first fighter in the four-belt era, male or female, to become undisputed champion in three different weight classes, Shields has spent her career redefining what greatness looks like.

Her return to middleweight brings her back to the division where she delivered one of the most significant victories of her career.

In 2022, Shields defeated longtime rival Savannah Marshall before a sold-out crowd at London’s O2 Arena to become the undisputed middleweight champion of the world, helping propel women’s boxing into a new era of visibility and commercial success.

Now, Atlanta becomes the next proving ground.

Standing across from her will be Australia’s Kaye Scott, a rising champion who captured the unified WBC and WBA middleweight titles after defeating Olivia Curry in one of women’s boxing’s most compelling rivalries.

Scott enters the biggest fight of her professional career with confidence, momentum, and something to prove.

“I believe the bigger the challenge, the bigger the opportunity,” Scott said. “I’m in the best shape of my life and ready to test myself against the very best.”

The matchup arrives at a critical time for women’s boxing.

Over the last decade, the sport has experienced unprecedented growth through sold-out arenas, increased television exposure, larger purses, and athletes capable of crossing into mainstream culture.

Few have been more responsible for that growth than Shields.
