Tommy Davidson Returns as Varnell Hill in New Paramount+ Comedy Series The Varnell Hill Show
One of television’s most unforgettable personalities is making his long-awaited return.
Paramount+ has officially unveiled the first look at The Varnell Hill Show, a brand-new workplace comedy starring Tommy Davidson, who reprises his fan-favorite role as the charismatic talk show host first introduced on the legendary sitcom Martin. Executive produced by Martin Lawrence and Bentley Kyle Evans, the eight-episode comedy premieres globally on September 1, with two episodes launching on debut day followed by new episodes every Tuesday through October 13.
Nearly three decades after audiences first met Varnell Hill, the outspoken television personality is back—and determined to prove he still belongs in the spotlight.
Set behind the scenes of a long-running late-night talk show, The Varnell Hill Show follows Varnell as he navigates the ever-changing entertainment industry while trying to remain relevant in an era of shifting audiences and evolving television. Between demanding network executives, an unpredictable writers’ room, celebrity guests, family challenges, and his own larger-than-life personality, Varnell quickly learns that maintaining a television empire can be just as challenging as building one.
Leading the series is Tommy Davidson, joined by an impressive ensemble cast that includes Kym Whitley, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Nick Cafero, Emmanuel Hudson, and Chris Williams.
The comedy also features an exciting lineup of guest stars, including Ms. Pat, Deon Cole, Damon Wayans, Mike Epps, Omarion, and many more, with Martin Lawrence making special appearances throughout the season.
Produced in association with BET Studios, the series boasts an accomplished creative team led by executive producers Martin Lawrence, Tommy Davidson, Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, Stacy Lyles, Rae Proctor, Robert Lawrence, Mark Greenberg, Andrew Horne, and Bentley Kyle Evans, who also serves as the series’ showrunner, writer, and director.
